This was really popular on Facebook last week; thought I'd give it a shot on our class web stie.                      In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week this week...name your favorite Braintree teacher!

Tough call...Ken Dooley, Fred Boussy, were great, but Ithink Anne Keenan (English) might be tops, even though she seemed to torture me every day!

Had to be Mr. Lague. The man was probably certifiable but he certainly made you listen.  Also loved having Mr. Sevagian and of course Mr. Larson!

Yes, Lague was a great character!  I never had him, but he'd often come into Mr. Boussey's science class where we were, and tell Fred Boussey he had Fred's "bull testicles" that Fred had ordered, as he showed Fred his meatball sub.   Really funny to us 10th graders hearing teacher talk like that!

Definitely Miss Keenan!!!  Mr. Lague and actually, Mr. Pendergast were close seconds!  But Miss Keenan just would not let one get away with less than that person's best. (And given that last sentence's construction, I think she would be insisting still!) I quite respected that, even at 17 and 18!  I regret never having written her to let her know how much I appreciated her insistence on doing my best.

I agree Anita:  Ann Keenan was relentless in expecting your best, and dragging it out of you.  I swear she asked me every day, "What do you think Tom?", seemingly knowing that I hadn't read the assignment, or recognizing that my attention towards the classroom discussion was "drifting."

I think I remember her best for developing my vocabulary skills with her weekly 10 new vocabulary words and subsequent quiz.  I still remember--word for word--the definition of some of those "esoteric" (how's that one!) vocab. words.  She was a great teacher.  Jill met Ann as an elementary teacher when Ann ran various Language Arts meetings for the district.  Jill still communicates occasionally with Ann, and sends her Xmas cards, etc.

Good memories, huh?  I had Mr. Pender for homeroom senior year, and he was a riot dealing with some of the characters in that group every morning.

Do you remember any of your favorite teachers from East??

Tom

Definately Dick Larson, we remained friends long after highschool.

I always felt badly that I never had missed Mr. Larson, Steve. Everyone always had such good things to say about him, he must have been a great guy.
