Evelyn Torrey TORREY

I spent two years in Ohio, about four in North Carolina, lived briefly in Texas, back to Massachusetts (1972-1987) including the house I grew up in, and then to Florida. Currently living in own home in Lake Placid, FL.

Worked in human services/social change and advocacy fields; college teaching. Specialized in "TESOL" (teaching English to speakers of other languages) and multicultural education; five college degrees including Ed.D. in 2002.

Retired May 2015; spending some time with grown children and two grandchildren.

There were oh so many stories that Dorothy Yep and I shared as yearbook co-editors with our advisor, Ms. Stecker . . . that should not be told!

So often I have asked myself, with such a conservative Republican family, how did I become so radical? I have to say, Ms. Dounelis had a profound influence both on my political philosophy and my commitment to academic excellence. I was so proud of my first term paper until it came back covered in red ink -- remember the days of ibid and op. cit?

Brother (Arthur) is in Billerica.

Went through in December 2013 -- oh so many changes in the Highlands.
Was at 50th reunion -- good times.
